Investment strategy

Our investment strategy focuses on wind and solar power plants ranging from 1 to 150 MW throughout Europe. Extensive expertise and a proven network of partners enable us to buy operative power plants as well as turn-key assets but also to develop green-field projects.

Flat hierarchies and an open communication culture enable us to quickly execute our projects and react to arising opportunities even if they are outside of our primary asset classes.

Our portfolio currently consists of wind and solar power plants in various stages of development or operation in Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, and the Czech Republic.

With this diversification strategy, we keep our risk exposure low while being able to take advantage of country-specific opportunities. The focus on stable national economies with a commitment to renewable energies or within the renewable energy policy framework of the European Union creates a favorable environment and attractive risk-return profiles for our assets.

With our portfolio of more than 25 operative power plants, we are already able to generate the electricity to provide 22.000 households with clean electricity. Through an extensive growth strategy, we aim to double these numbers until 2020.

Wind power plants in Kampehl, Germany

In August 2016 Pacifico acquired a portfolio of seven wind power plants in Kampehl, Germany. The plants have initially been connected to the grid back in 2005 and have been producing sound yields ever since. With a total capacity of 5 MW, the seven Vestas V-52 turbines are located north-west of the German capital, Berlin, in the state of Brandenburg.
The acquisition involved both a share-deal and an asset-deal in which two portfolios of 2 and 5 turbines were consolidated. Currently, all turbines are subsidized through the German EEG which will guarantee fixed revenues till 2025. After selling the plant to our strategic partner Pacifico Renewables Yield AG, Pacifico is now taking care of the commercial management of the plants.

Ground-mounted solar power plant in Bariano, Italy

Italy is one of the countries with the greatest potential for solar energy production in Europe and is currently ranking second on installed solar capacity. The mature market and favorable geographical conditions, together with an attractive incentive program (the so-called 'Conto Energia'), have led Pacifico Energy Partners to enter the Italian market in April 2017. Pacifico completed its first acquisition in the Italian market with the purchase of the 1 MW plant in Castelnovo Bariano, in the Veneto region. The plant has first been connected to the grid in 2011 and consists of modules by CEEG and Futura Sun.
It has generated sound yields in the past and after the exchange of some damaged modules and minor optimization measures, the output could be further increased. The plants have since been sold to our strategic partner Pacifico Renewables Yield Ag who, given the size of the land, will be able to carry out repowering measures, increasing the capacity by more than 50%. Since the successful entry into the Italian market, Pacifico acquired additional solar projects and is currently developing a greenfield project that will run without any subsidies and is planned to be connected to the grid in 2020.

Development of wind power plants in Kujawsko-Pomorskie, Poland

With its favorable wind conditions and the strong EU support for renewable energies, implemented by the polish government via the June 2018 amendment of their RES act, Poland has become an increasingly attractive market for wind projects. Reacting to this development, Pacifico kicked-off its operations in the Polish market with the acquisition of project-rights for wind power plants in November 2018.
The acquired project has a total capacity of 70 MWp in 4 different locations in the Kojawsko-Pomorskie Voivodship. Within the following two years, the project will be developed and built together with the OEM of the turbines, who is also acting as turn-key EPC contractor. After completion of this development project, the polish portfolio will make up the largest share in the overall portfolio of Pacifico.
